Study Trip to Guinea
Join Mohamed Duranteau and his family in the ultimate immersive experience in West African drum & dance. This Drum and Dance intensive is based in Conakry, Guinea and caters to people of all levels in drum and dance who wish to experience a journey rich in traditional culture, music, dance, human kindness and spirit!
Students have the opportunity to take daily dance and drumming classes with professional and talented artists from notorious ballets such as Les Ballets Africains, Ballet Djoliba, Merveilles de Guinee, Ballet Tayeli. Students will also get the rare opportunity to learn from Master djembefola Mamadouba Camara, former lead djembe player for the Ballets Africains and Ballet Djoliba and now director of Ballet Tayeli.

Trip Includes:
•2 daily dance classes and 1 daily drum classes to suit your skill level.

•Trips to nearby villages, including “La Voile de la Mariee” Falls in Kindia in the Fouta Djalon region.
•Performances by local "Ballets” (Performance Troupes)
•Guided trips to markets and various outings
•Participate in local ceremonies and celebrations such as dundunbas and sabars
•3 delicious home cooked meals per day and 1 litre of water per day
•Stay in a comfortable private and secure home.

Please note: you can choose to do from 1 to 6 weeks and start on any Saturday that best fits your travel schedule.
We offer a very competitive rate of $1750!
*Airfare not included. If you choose to stay for more than 3 weeks the price drops to only $500 per week!
Deposit (1/2 of total price) is due by Oct. 15th with the remainder due Nov. 15th. Travel usually happend in December and January.
*Private classes in a variety of disciplines are available by request, for an additional fee.
Daily Schedule:
Here’s an example of your daily schedule in Guinea:
8:30am-10:00am: BREAKFAST
10:00am-12:00pm: DANCE (or ACCOMPANIMENT DRUMMING) CLASS
12:00pm-2:00pm: LUNCH BREAK
2:00pm-3:30pm: DRUMMING CLASS
4:00pm-6:00pm: DANCE (or ACCOMPANIMENT DRUMMING) CLASS
6:30pm-7:30pm: DINNER
Upon receipt of your deposit and registration form, you will be emailed comprehensive information to help you prepare and pack for your trip. There will be a $300 non-refundable fee for cancellations after November 15th. Your airline ticket is subject to the cancellation policy of your airline. We recommend that you purchase travel insurance, which should include health insurance during your stay.
